10 tips for healthy skin for the new year

10 tips for healthy skin for the new year

Every year it’s the same thing: ‘from now on… i’m gonna eat healthy, exercise, go outside with SPF, and come up with the best skincare routine’. And every year you don’t stick to it, recognisable? Here are our 10 tips, for taking good care of your skin all day long!

1. Find a routine and STICK TO IT!

Always stick to a basic routine of cleansing first, exfoliating after, and finally moisturizing. This way you’ll get the most out of your skincare routine. Depending on what skin type you have, you can add to this routine with some extra’s, such as a serum, an oil, a face scrub, or a detoxifying mask. This just all depends on what your skin is craving. But don’t forget babes, LESS IS MORE! We also don’t want to over do it on all the different types of skincare products out there that will overwhelm the skin and have retroactive effects.

2. ALWAYS CLEAN, even if you are not wearing make up

Its very easy to curl up in our soft beds and forget to remove our make up. So don’t forget to clean your skin in the morning and at night. Using a good Clay And Glow facial cleanser is essential for every skincare routine. The products we use daily will work so much better with a clean base!

3. SAY NO to soap

A regular bar of soap is bad for your skin in all cases. This is because soap bars generally contain specific ingredients that give the bar a solid shape. These harmful ingredients will eventually dry out the skin a clog pores. Instead opt for our Clay And Glow Straw-Jelly Cleanser™ or the Exfoliating Face Scrub.

4. Find an exfoliant THAT BEST SUITS YOU

There are so many different exfoliants out there. Find out what your skin type is first and then what exfoliant best suits your skin type needs, and make it part of your routine.

5. SPF: The way to prevent WRINKLES

SPF has anti-aging benefits that no other skincare product can beat. When it comes to premature ageing, wrinkles, and sagging or uneven skin, SPF should become our best friend. The sun can have damaging effects on your delicate skin so protecting it all day and even when its cloudy is crucial!

6. Don’t forget ABOUT THE EYES!

Your eyes want some love too. We use day and night creams all the time, but tend to forget about our eyes. The skin under your eyes is very thin and sensitive so try to use an eye cream every day, the same time you’re applying your day and night cream.

It's so so important to avoid touching your face as much as possible. We walk around all day touching different items with our hands, and don’t want to transfer those bacteria onto our face. This can lead to increased wrinkles, bacteria buildup and even the flu! So wash your hands thoroughly throughout the day and avoid touching your face as much as possible.

8. Don’t forget to REST!

It sounds so simple, but resting your body has so many benefits to the skin and its health. During a good night rest your skins blood flow increases, and your organs rebuild its collagen levels while repairing damaging cells from UV exposure. This will ultimately reduce wrinkles and age spots. Don’t we all love looking a little younger than we actually are!

We can’t stress enough that staying hydrated inside and out is so important for our skincare routine. Drinking enough water (preferably 8 glasses a day) throughout the day is very essential. And choosing products with hydrating formulas can help boost your skins’ moisture.

10. Maintain a HEALTHY DIET!

We know you don’t want to hear it, but we are going to say it anyways. Don’t forget to eat your greens. What you put into your body will also show on the outside. Eating enough vegetables, omega-3 fatty acids and enough fruits will help increase your skins’ moisture, making your skin feel and look more clean and vibrant.
